Purpose
The invention is a locking and GPS tracking device created to stop all the senseless gun deaths in this country. Now, not only can firearms be locked and protected against accidental use, but they can also be protected from theft and recovered if they are stolen. A smart phone app allows a user to identify their firearm by a barcode, as well as a nickname. Should the gun be moved, the invention tracks the firearm. It will send a message to the owner’s smart phone, along with a dedicated ringtone, plus a map, depicting the location of the gun. A user will now immediately know if a gun is in their child’s hands. If the firearm has been stolen, a special button on the app allows the user to inform law enforcement of the missing gun and its location.

Story Behind the Invention
Inventor Roger Laney of Pageland, SC has created a locking and GPS tracking device to stop all the senseless gun deaths that keep occurring.
In the wake of escalating gun violence and tragic incidents, Roger has developed a groundbreaking invention, a beacon of hope in the fight against senseless fatalities. Deeply moved by the loss of innocent lives, especially children who inadvertently become victims of unsecured firearms, Roger was inspired to create the Revolutionary Gun Lock. His innovation aims to eliminate such tragedies by ensuring guns don’t end up in the wrong hands. The invention also deters theft, curbing the influx of stolen firearms into streets, a rampant issue likened to the easy availability of illicit drugs. The invention not only safeguards homes and vehicles, but also promises to significantly reduce street crimes committed with stolen guns. Roger’s invention will help us work toward a safer America, demonstrating how technology can be used to protect our communities.
But how does it work? A smart phone app allows you to identify your firearm by a barcode, as well as a nickname. Should the gun be moved, the invention tracks the firearm. It will send a message to your smart phone, along with a dedicated ringtone, plus a map, depicting the location of the gun. You will now immediately know if a gun is in the hands of your child. If the firearm has been stolen, a special button on the app allows you to inform law enforcement of the missing gun and its location.
